child care centres + kindergartens

Child care centres and kindergartens aim to foster early childhood development through play and learning. Integral to this notion is the understanding that not all children play and learn in the same way. Outdoor play areas need to provide a variety of spaces which cater for different play needs. Whilst it is important to provide areas for developing physical abilities, it is equally important to provide quiet areas to develop self awareness, imagination and social interaction with others. Designed spaces should be flexible and able to be manipulated by children.
